Here’s what to expect from your Virtual meeting:

It’s important to note that I’m really only touching on the process of a kitchen or bath remodel as it relates to virtual meetings.  There is a lot more that goes into a project than what I’m discussing here.

Introductions~ Similar to meeting in person, you will get a good idea if the client/designer fit is a good one.  This is also when the designer will hopefully get a feel for the style, desires, and needs of the client (including preliminary finish selections).

In one of my zoom meetings, the client turned her camera and gave me a virtual tour of her current kitchen and adjacent spaces.  She was able to show me what she liked and didn’t like about those areas and why.  She then emailed me blueprints of the house. (If you don’t have accurate blueprints, a hand drawing or some other type of drawing with measurements will work).

At this point, it’s important to discuss an expected or desired timeline and budget.  This step could be done entirely through email.

You need to select a contractor if you haven’t already.

Presentation~  For this, I’ve learned that the “share my screen” feature is a great tool!

You can expect an overview of one or more layouts, and you’ll be able to zero in on some cabinetry, countertop, backsplash, and flooring options.

As you narrow your choices, subsequent design meetings may be required.

Details~ You will want to schedule a meeting (if you haven’t already gone over this) for the details of the kitchen.  Where you want your drawers vs. rollouts, what type of crown and base molding you want, how that will blend with the base molding that’s existing etc. etc. etc.

Subsequent meetings and steps~

Once you’ve landed on a design, set a time-line, order cabinetry, and other materials.

Now, as we return to our offices, I believe virtual meetings are and will be a part of our future. These skills and knowledge will help those that may otherwise not have the ability to meet in person. It also provides a convenience and accessibility that many of us never considered.  It connects us in ways we didn’t know we could.
