~ This remodel was a H U G E transformation! ~
The kitchen footprint itself is smaller in scale, but we partially removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen to add major impact to this space. We had to keep part of the wall and bulkhead over the sink due to plumbing for the second floor. By removing bulkheads over the new range and coffee bar area, we gained height and a more functional layout.
We took out a window in the kitchen and replaced it with a new doorway that leads directly out to their 3 – season room. Luxury vinyl tile replaced their old flooring throughout the main area. Adding white cabinets to this space opened it up making it feel light and airy. The main question for a lot of remodel projects is how to mesh existing dark trim with new white cabinetry? The darker floors and warmth from the backsplash blend the white cabinetry with the dark trim. It creates harmony between the white cabinets and the other colors in the surrounding rooms.
~ The homeowner’s F A V O R I T E spot is the new peninsula with the added seating! ~
The addition of all new can lighting throughout and under – cabinet lighting adds to the ambiance of the space. They also love the extra counter space, and the overall flow of the kitchen. It works great with the direct access to the 3 – season room. Recent parties have showed that the flow through the new space is more than adequate. They are looking forward to making many memories in their new and improved home!
